Important information about who we are, what we do, and how we work with you and your medical care.
Who we are
The Reflux Clinic is a clinical nutrition practice operated by Douglas Mizzi, Clinical Nutritionist (ATMS Member #8079), in practice since 1990. The clinic is one of three specialist practices run by Douglas, alongside The Rash Clinic and The Food Intolerance Clinic.
The business is operated by The Trustee for Mizzi Family Trust (ABN 56 970 090 739), 66 Goonawarra Drive, Mooloolaba, Queensland 4557.
What we do
We provide clinical nutrition consultations focused on reflux, GORD and ongoing digestive symptoms. This includes reviewing your history, symptoms, dietary patterns and lifestyle, and developing a personalised, education-led plan to help you understand and manage your symptoms.
Consultations are available in person at our clinic locations and online via Zoom across Australia.
What we do not do
Douglas Mizzi is a Clinical Nutritionist, not a medical doctor. We do not diagnose medical conditions, prescribe pharmaceutical medication, or provide emergency medical care.
Our services are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you have severe, persistent or unexplained symptoms, please seek appropriate medical investigation.
Working with your doctor & medications
We work alongside your existing medical care, not instead of it. We do not advise stopping or changing any prescribed medication without the guidance of your medical practitioner.
We encourage you to keep your GP or specialist informed and to continue any investigations they recommend.
Our philosophy
We believe people deserve to be listened to and to understand what is happening in their own body. Our approach is investigative and educational — we look beyond the surface to the patterns and drivers behind your symptoms, and we take the time to explain what we find.
Every plan is personalised. There is no one-size-fits-all template.
Privacy & your information
We are committed to protecting your personal information. We collect information such as your name, contact details, health information and consultation records only to provide our services and communicate with you about your care.
We do not sell, trade or transfer your personal information to third parties. Health information is stored securely and access is limited to authorised personnel only.
Consultation & refund policy
Consultation fees are payable at the time of booking or consultation. If you need to reschedule or cancel, please provide reasonable notice so the appointment can be offered to someone else.
For Zoom consultations, if a technical issue on our side prevents the consultation from proceeding and it cannot be rescheduled, a refund of the consultation fee will be provided.
Governing law & jurisdiction
These terms and any matters arising from your use of our services are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
